Semporna: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) is set to provide counselling assistance to the families affected by the recent helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak. Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri emphasized the ministry's readiness to help, but acknowledged that families need time to process the tragedy before seeking support.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy Shukri highlighted the importance of counsellors being adequately prepared for such sensitive situations. The minister stated that the nature of the incident, which involves grieving families, requires counsellors who have a genuine understanding of the emotional toll it takes. She made these remarks while speaking to reporters after the launch of the Semporna Zero Tolerance for Violence Programme, which includes initiatives like the Anti-Sexual Harassment Advocacy and End Violence Against Women campaign.

The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday when a BO-105 helicopter carrying four Health Ministry personnel and a pilot crashed and caught fire near the Short Take-off and Landing airstrip. The crash resulted in the loss of all five individuals on board, who were on a Flying Doctor Service mission to remote areas.
