KPT Introducing Special Pathway For Community College Graduates To Pursue Studies

Setiawangsa: The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) is providing a special pathway for new graduates of Community Colleges to further their studies at polytechnic and university levels in technical fields. Its minister, Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, announced that this initiative aims to enhance career progression opportunities for graduates of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes upon completing their studies at Community Colleges.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry emphasized that previously, graduates were mainly restricted to applying to technical universities. The new pathway broadens their options, allowing them to continue their education at other universities or polytechnics, depending on their qualifications and the courses they have completed. Zambry, who serves as an UMNO Supreme Council member, discussed these developments with reporters after opening the Setiawangsa UMNO delegates meeting.

Zambry also mentioned that the ministry is working on a new policy to evaluate the effectiveness of Community Colleges in producing skilled local talent. This involves ensuring that the courses offered align with current industry needs. Furthermore, the ministry is exploring the feasibility of establishing Community Colleges in urban areas to widen access to technical education and skills training.

Earlier, Setiawangsa UMNO Chief Datuk Seri Dr Izudin Ishak, during his speech, called on the government to set up more educational institutions in the Setiawangsa area. He suggested establishing at least one Community College to serve as a catalyst for human capital development, particularly benefiting local youth.
