KPT Engages with EandE and Semiconductor Sectors to Enhance Student Upskilling

Penang: The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) is actively engaging in dialogue sessions with industry players within the electrical and electronics (EandE) and semiconductor sectors to obtain feedback on student upskilling needs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir emphasized the alignment of this initiative with the government’s commitment to prioritizing industry needs within higher education. During a dialogue session in Penang, Zambry discussed collaboration opportunities between academia and industry to address specific challenges and align educational priorities with industry requirements.

Zambry highlighted the importance of understanding industry challenges to develop effective strategies for talent development. The dialogue session provided valuable insights from industry players, who shared recommendations to identify and nurture the talent required by the sector.

The minister’s visit to Penang included participation in the Kembara Ramadan KPT 2025 programme at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), marking his fourth visit under the initiative. During his visit, he reiterated KPT’s commitment to strengthening educational ties with the industry, focusing on producing graduates who meet specific industry demands.

Zambry noted that the EandE and semiconductor industries have highlighted their need for engineers with specialized skills. The feedback received from these sectors is expected to guide efforts to enhance collaboration between universities and industry to address workforce demands accurately.
