KPMG in Malaysia Appoints New Managing Partner to Foster Growth

KUALA LUMPUR: KPMG in Malaysia has announced a change in its leadership as Foong Mun Kong takes on the role of Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2025. This transition follows the tenure of Datuk Johan Idris, who will continue to contribute to the firm as Non-Executive Chairman, focusing on strategic guidance to facilitate the company’s ongoing expansion.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Foong Mun Kong, with more than three decades of experience in audit and assurance, steps into this leadership role after serving as the Head of Audit at KPMG. His extensive expertise and professional involvement include serving as Vice President of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), being a Council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, and participating as a member of the MFRS Application and Implementation Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB).

Foong’s appointment is part of KPMG’s strategic efforts to maintain its growth trajectory in the professional services sector. The firm anticipates that his leadership will bring continued success and further strengthen its market position. As Non-Executive Chairman, Datuk Johan Idris will provide strategic counsel, drawing from his years of experience and leadership within the firm.
