KPMC’s Strategic Tech Investments Propel Digital Hospital Transformation

Kajang: Kajang Plaza Medical Centre (KPMC), a local private healthcare provider, is actively investing in the latest medical technology (tech) as part of its digital transformation strategy to become a more patient-friendly hospital.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Executive Officer Datuk Saroni Judi stated that investments in technology, including the hospital information system (His), digital kiosk systems, and mobile applications, have led to a significant improvement in customer experience and reduced reliance on human labour.

Saroni emphasized that this effort is crucial for meeting KPMC’s future needs without the need to expand premises or increase staffing. He categorizes the investment into two primary areas: technology related directly to disease treatment, such as modern medical equipment, and technology focused on enhancing patient interaction with the hospital, like simplifying registration procedures and reducing waiting times.

In Bernama TV’s ‘Bual Bisnes’ programme aired on Saturday, Saroni highlighted that patients can now book appointments with doctors directly through an application integrated with the HIS system, streamlining the appointment process. The HIS system also enables patients to check in using MyKad at the ‘QueueMed Healthtech’ (Qmed) digital kiosk, allowing for a systematic waiting process.

The system not only expedites the treatment process but also ensures maximum comfort for patients. This digital approach aligns with KPMC’s goal to become a ’boutique’ hospital, focusing on the comfort and holistic needs of patients and their families.

Saroni shared insights from his recent visit to China, noting the advanced state of robotics technology there. He observed sophisticated collaborations between robots and automation systems, including food and medicine delivery without human involvement, which has implications for KPMC’s future developments.

He also mentioned that the latest technology enables doctors to perform surgeries remotely, with only a doctor’s assistant present in the operating room. This commitment to digital transformation ensures that KPMC advances in line with the future of healthcare services, increasingly reliant on digital and virtual platforms.

Despite these technological advancements, Saroni stressed that KPMC remains dedicated to empathy and sensitivity towards customers, as well as fostering close community collaboration, as the core pillars in evolving into a modern, visionary, and future-oriented hospital.
