KPKT Channels RM17.97 Mln For Housing Maintenance In Johor

Johor bahru: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has channeled an allocation of RM17.97 million for the Housing Maintenance Programme (PPP) in Johor since 2023. Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu stated that the allocation provided since 2023 through the National Housing Department (JPN) strengthens the commitment and ensures the continuous distribution of maintenance assistance for residents of the People's Housing Programme (PPR).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 57 maintenance projects were carried out through PPP, which includes the replacement of sewage pipes and handrail repairs at a cost of RM876,744 for the Taman Desa Mutiara PPR. A total of RM1.91 million has been allocated for Desa Mutiara PPR for executing six major maintenance projects, she mentioned after officiating the Kasih MADANI Sustainable and Safe Community Synergy Programme at Taman Desa Mutiara PPR.

Present at the event was Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) chief executive officer Khalid Mohamed. Aiman Athirah highlighted that the MADANI Government is attentive and proactive in addressing critical issues faced by residents, such as safety, cleanliness, and the comfort of the residential environment.

Moreover, she emphasized that KPKT is committed to fostering community harmony through the Zero Waste Community Centre (KOSIS) initiative under SWCorp's supervision. Since its introduction in March 2020, the initiative has been implemented at PPR Desa Mutiara, recording the collection of 32,790.07 kilogrammes of recyclable goods, reaching a sales value of RM15,652.

She also noted that the PPR was selected as a 'Fire Point' location for use by community firefighters in the area. There are 16 Fire Point locations nationwide equipped with various equipment and supplies, including safety jackets, hoses, and community boats.
