Jakarta:The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has been allocated RM6.355 billion under Budget 2027, marking an increase of RM266.74 million from the previous year. This budget boost aims to enhance housing initiatives, upgrade public facilities, improve community well-being, and bolster fire and rescue service preparedness nationwide.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, key initiatives include increasing the allocation for small projects in local authority areas to RM700 million. This funding will be used to upgrade parks, public toilets, and stalls, which includes constructing MADANI stalls. Redevelopment projects are planned for locations such as the Jalan Chui Yin Hawker Complex in Bentong, Pahang; Buntong Market in Ipoh, Perak; and the Hill Trace hawker site in George Town, Penang.
Additionally, RM320 million has been allocated to repair and upgrade slopes, drains, and ditches across local authority areas nationwide. In the housing sector, KPKT has earmarked RM1 billion for the Rumah Mesra Rakyat and Program Residensi Rakyat schemes. This includes the implementation of four new housing projects located in Kulai, Johor; Nilai, Negeri Sembilan; Paya Rumput, Melaka; and Lembah Pertang, Terengganu.
The Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) will offer financing guarantees up to RM20 billion to assist 80,000 first-time housebuyers, particularly targeting the self-employed without a fixed income. Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) plans to develop Bandar MADANI Bukit Jalil, an integrated residential area with amenities including a vertical school.
To further improve community well-being, RM100 million has been allocated for the repair and rebuilding of dilapidated facilities in Chinese New Villages. An additional RM80 million has been set aside for the maintenance and upgrading of registered non-Muslim houses of worship nationwide.
Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that every allocation benefits the people directly. He stated that KPKT's priority is to provide safer and more comfortable housing, quality public facilities, more efficient local authority services, and more prosperous communities.
