Kampung parit warijo: The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK), alongside its agencies, including the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), has announced its readiness to support smallholders in mitigating the impacts of the El Nino phenomenon. KPK Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad emphasized the ministry's commitment to maintaining communication with smallholders, providing necessary advice and guidance to help minimize the adverse effects on agricultural activities and yields.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Noraini highlighted that prolonged hot weather could significantly impact commodity yields, particularly palm oil production. She urged smallholders to stay alert and report any issues to the relevant agencies promptly. The minister reassured that KPK, through MPOB, would offer the necessary support to ensure that smallholders are not severely affected by the ongoing weather conditions. The statements were made during the Kampung Angkat MADANI Carnival and Launching Ceremony held at the Kampung Parit Warijo Multipurpose Hall.

Furthermore, Noraini expressed confidence that most smallholders, especially those in rural regions, are aware of the potential challenges posed by El Nino. She encouraged them to seek assistance without delay if they encounter difficulties. In addition, she mentioned that 220 oil trader license holders were involved in the purchase of used cooking oil as of July.

Regarding the Kampung Angkat MADANI Programme, the minister, who also serves as the Parit Sulong Member of Parliament, disclosed that RM590,000 had been allocated for developmental and physical projects in the area. These projects include upgrading the surau at Kampung Parit Basri Laut, improving the community hall, and repairing several houses in collaboration with GIATMARA Parit Sulong. The programme also features artificial intelligence courses and a fertigation chilli cultivation project aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of local residents.
