KPJ Expands Healthcare Network with Kuala Selangor Specialist Hospital Launch

Kuala Selangor: KPJ Healthcare Berhad today launched its 30th hospital, KPJ Kuala Selangor (KPJKS) Specialist Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to private specialist healthcare in Malaysia’s rapidly growing communities, particularly beyond the major city centres.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KPJ Healthcare Bhd president and managing director, Chin Keat Chyuan, stated that the hospital, which began operations on March 22 this year, offers a wide range of services across multiple medical disciplines, including internal medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology, radiology, anaesthesiology, gastroenterology, and hepatology.

Chin highlighted that the hospital currently operates with 14 resident consultants and eight sessional consultants, supported by a dedicated team of 188 personnel, including medical officers, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff. This was disclosed during a press conference after the launch, attended by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and KPJ Healthcare chairman Tan Sri Dr Ismail Bakar.

The 60-bed facility is equipped with diagnostic and treatment infrastructure, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI system, a 160-slice CT scanner, full-field digital mammography, and the Super Inductive System (SIS), a non-invasive pain management therapy using high-intensity electromagnetic fields. Other key features include four ICU beds, two operating theatres, a scope room, and dedicated daycare beds.

Dzulkefly, who officiated the launch, expressed approval for the new facility, highlighting its role in complementing the nearby Tanjong Karang Hospital, which is eight kilometres away. He noted that both institutions play significant roles in public service, especially in reducing waiting times at public hospitals like Tanjong Karang Hospital, a minor specialist hospital.

Dzulkefly also mentioned that KPJKS is expected to serve not only the Kuala Selangor district but could extend its services to the Muallim district in Perak, if necessary. KPJKS is designed to offer a healing environment with modern interiors and natural surroundings, ensuring patient comfort alongside clinical services.

The opening of KPJKS reflects the group’s strategy under the KPJ Health System, an integrated approach combining clinical care, medical education, and research excellence across KPJ Healthcare’s nationwide network.
