Kajang: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 190 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders and a lorry, with an estimated total value of RM83,116, in a raid on a premises in Kajang on Feb 9. Its director-general (Enforcement) Datuk Azman Adam stated that the raid was conducted by the Putrajaya KPDN Enforcement Division following intelligence regarding a premises suspected of storing controlled goods without a valid licence.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the zinc-fenced premises was locked before the raid team gained entry. During the checks, a Daihatsu lorry carrying 110 units of 14 kg LPG cylinders was found, along with 80 LPG cylinders of 14 kg and 50 kg capacity on the premises platform.
Azman mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed the supply was sourced from a company in Bandar Rinching, Semenyih, and that the Kajang premises did not possess a valid licence to store or conduct business involving controlled LPG.
He added that a man and a woman, believed to be involved in transporting the LPG, were detained to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
