Perak: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has seized 219 cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) being used without a permit across several locations in Perak, including a poultry farm where the gas was utilized for heating chicks.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, state KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail stated that the enforcement action, conducted on May 6, was part of ‘Ops Gasak 2025,’ focusing on the unauthorized use of controlled goods. The raids in Teluk Intan, Taiping, and Ipoh resulted in a total seizure valued at RM46,995.30, which included two lorries.
Kamalludin revealed that the poultry farm in Teluk Intan was holding LPG without the necessary licence or approval. A 66-year-old local man, who identified himself as the farm’s manager, could not provide any relevant documentation when questioned by the enforcement officers.
Further inspections led to the discovery of two lorries loaded with gas cylinders, parked outside a business premises in Ipoh and a residential property in Taiping. Kamalludin reported that a 48-year-old man in Ipoh and a 62-year-old man in Taiping were detained after they failed to present permits for storing the fuel.
‘The individuals involved did not present any letter of approval, licence or permit from the Controller,’ Kamalludin said. The cases are currently being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
