Kota Setar And Pendang Schools To Resume Face-to-face Classes Tomorrow

Kota setar: School sessions in Kota Setar and Pendang will resume face-to-face tomorrow after both districts recorded Level 1 (Alert) temperature readings of between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius since yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kedah Education Department (JPN) director Abdul Rahim Mat stated that the department continuously monitors the temperature readings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) before deciding on the implementation of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) in the state.

He explained that recent rainfall has helped bring temperatures down to Level 1. Previously, the temperature had been at Level 2, prompting the implementation of PdPR sessions to ensure student safety from the heat. With the current lower temperature readings, schools will operate as usual, while adhering to guidelines distributed to schools, parents, and students.

Abdul Rahim Mat emphasized the importance of protecting students from the heat and encouraging them to stay hydrated. He noted that the PdPR sessions were conducted smoothly, although some students faced challenges such as sharing devices with their parents.

Despite these challenges, the learning process was successfully carried out, with adjustments made to the place and timing of lessons. A total of 86,030 students participated in the PdPR sessions over three days starting Sunday. This included 65,634 students from 154 schools in Kota Setar and 20,396 students from 52 schools in Pendang.
