Kota Damansara Data Centre Issue to Be Discussed in Cabinet Meeting

Kota damansara: The issue surrounding the proposed development of a data centre in a residential area in Kota Damansara will be brought to the Cabinet meeting following concerns raised by residents, said Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Human Resources Minister stated that the decision aims to discuss the need for more comprehensive guidelines and mechanisms for the placement of data centres, particularly near residential areas. Ramanan emphasized that while he supports development and investments that can stimulate economic growth, such undertakings must be based on facts, thorough studies, and engagement with all stakeholders.

Ramanan revealed he had submitted an official objection letter to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Mayor, expressing his stance against the proposed development. However, no official response has been received from MBPJ regarding the objection.

Following complaints from residents, the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre conducted a review and assessment of the proposed development to gain a clearer understanding. Preliminary findings indicated areas requiring attention, including site suitability, community well-being, impact on existing infrastructure and the environment, as well as the residents' quality of life.

Ramanan stressed that the service centre had not been informed of the proposed development nor involved in any engagement sessions or discussions concerning the interests of Kota Damansara residents. He asserted that any large-scale development impacting the local community should be conducted transparently and inclusively, involving all stakeholders, including the area's elected representative.

He assured that he would continue to monitor developments on the issue and ensure that the voices of Kota Damansara residents are raised at relevant levels until a fair, transparent, and people-centric solution is achieved. Ramanan reiterated that as the Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh, the interests of the people will always be his priority.
