Putrajaya: The film Konspirasi is expected to enhance public understanding and confidence in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) role, which extends beyond enforcement to include anti-corruption prevention and education efforts.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki stated that the film offers a closer insight into the challenges, threats, pressures, and unwavering principles of MACC officers in carrying out their duties for the sake of the nation. "This film gives a clear picture of the real challenges faced by enforcement officers in carrying out their duties," he remarked in a statement after attending the film's special screening at TGV Alamanda today.
The screening was also attended by MACC Deputy Chief Commissioners for Prevention, Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman, and for Management and Professionalism, Datuk Junipah Wandi, along with senior directors and heads of MACC divisions and state offices. Konspirasi, set to open in cinemas nationwide on May 21, portrays anti-corruption enforcement in a realistic, dramatic, and high-impact way.
The film also addresses investigation leaks involving the unlawful disclosure of confidential data, secrets, and other sensitive information to unauthorised parties, thereby raising public awareness of the risks such breaches pose to national security and the integrity of enforcement agencies. Directed by Ghaz Abu Bakar, the film stars well-known local actors including Datuk Adi Putra, Hisyam Hamid, Alicia Amin, Shiqin Kamal, Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim, Amir Nafis, and Esma Daniel.
National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) chief executive officer Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib commented in the statement that the openness shown by agencies such as the anti-graft body in portraying the realities of enforcement work reflects a high level of transparency. He noted that Konspirasi also carries the message that wrongdoing will not be tolerated, while highlighting the MACC's broader responsibilities, including safeguarding national security and interests. "This is also a nation-building film, successfully presented to the public today," he added.
