KLIH and Huawei Partner to Pioneer Smart Hospital Development in Southeast Asia

Kuala lumpur: KL International Hospital Sdn Bhd (KLIH), set to open in the latter half of 2026, is on track to become Southeast Asia’s first fully integrated smart healthcare facility within KL Wellness City (KLWC). In support of this development, KLIH has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to advance the smart hospital initiatives at KLWC.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KLIH Managing Director Datuk Dr Colin Lee highlighted the significance of the partnership as the hospital transitions towards a fully digital care environment. He emphasized that the collaboration with Huawei Malaysia is a crucial step towards making KLIH a model for smart healthcare and wellness living. The integration of advanced digital technologies aims to set new benchmarks in patient experience, operational efficiency, and data-driven care, as noted by Lee during the MoU signing ceremony.

The MoU was signed by Lee and Huawei Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Simon Sun. In his address, Sun expressed enthusiasm for contributing Huawei’s expertise to Malaysia’s healthcare sector. He stated that the partnership with KLIH reflects Huawei’s commitment to enhancing healthcare technology beyond product development, focusing on technology that transforms services to improve societal well-being.

The agreement includes joint training and knowledge-sharing programs to bolster digital healthcare skills across KLWC. KLIH plans to offer 624 beds, potentially expandable to 1,000, with facilities including 25 operating theatres, 76 intensive care unit beds, and 88 high dependency unit beds. A link bridge will connect the hospital to The Nobel Healthcare Park, which will feature medical, wellness, retail, and business suites, along with MSC-compliant offices for convenience and accessibility.

The hospital is anticipated to support Malaysia’s medical tourism sector, with digital systems that adhere to international standards. Under the collaboration, Huawei Malaysia will provide support in information and communication technology infrastructure, cloud services, artificial intelligence-powered analytics, and smart applications, enhancing hospital operations and patient care.
