KLCI Futures Close Mostly Higher Despite Softer Cash Market

Kuala lumpur: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended mostly higher on Friday, even as the underlying cash market showed signs of softness. At the close, the December 2025 contract increased by 2.5 points to 1,676.0. The January 2026 and March 2026 contracts both saw a rise of 1.0 point, reaching 1,680.0 and 1,664.5, respectively. Conversely, the June 2026 contract experienced a decline, falling 3.0 points to close at 1,664.0.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the turnover for the futures market decreased to 23,709 lots from 39,353 on Wednesday. The open interest also narrowed, falling to 63,355 contracts from the previous 76,499. At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI had fallen by 1.21 points, or 0.07 percent, to 1,677.10 compared to Wednesday's closing of 1,678.31. The market had been closed the previous day in observance of Christmas Day.
