KLCC LRT Station Temporarily Closed Due to Smoke in Equipment Room

KUALA LUMPUR: The KLCC Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station has been temporarily closed following the detection of smoke in the station’s electronic equipment room earlier today. Commuters are being redirected to alternate nearby stations to continue their journeys as efforts are made to ensure safety and restore normal operations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has issued a statement advising passengers to utilize the Persiaran KLCC Station and Ampang Park Station as alternatives. To facilitate the transition, free shuttle bus services are currently operating between Ampang Park Station, KLCC Station, and Dang Wangi Station. Commuters are encouraged to keep abreast of updates via Rapid KL’s social media platforms and the PULSE app.

In a related development, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohamed Azimin Mohamed Zahidi confirmed that a fire incident had occurred involving the station’s pump switch panel. The department was alerted at 4:15 p.m., and a fire engine with seven personnel was dispatched to the location. The fire was successfully extinguished by KLCC’s Emergency Response Team using Carbon Dioxide fire extinguishers prior to the department’s arrival.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities have assured the public that there were no injuries and the situation is under control. The temporary closure is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and staff.
