KL Immigration Department Collects RM10.04 Million in Fines for Immigration Offences

Kuala lumpur: The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department has reported 845 charges involving 801 foreign nationals for immigration offences between January and June 30, 2023.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department's director, Hamsha Injau, highlighted that the majority of these charges, numbering 556, were related to overstaying under Section 15(4) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. As of June 30, the department successfully collected RM10.04 million in fines for these and other immigration-related offences.

Director Hamsha emphasized the department's commitment to enforcing immigration laws, stating that actions against violators, including employers and premises owners who harbor or employ illegal immigrants, will proceed without compromise. He made this statement during a press conference at the Home Ministry (KDN) Complex.

In addition, Hamsha urged undocumented migrants to utilize the Migrant Repatriation Programme (PRM) 2.0, which is available until May 31, 2027. He also encouraged the public to adhere to immigration laws and report any related offences through official channels.
