Kuala lumpur: Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) came from behind to hold DPMM FC to a 3-3 draw in the first leg of the 2026/2027 FA Cup quarterfinals at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, Brunei tonight. The match was filled with excitement as both teams displayed their attacking prowess.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the home side took the lead early in the 18th minute with a goal from Jordan Murray, who received a pass from team captain Azwan Ali Rahman. KL City equalized in the 33rd minute when Paulo Josue converted a penalty, and the score remained 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, DPMM FC, under the guidance of coach James Reynold, quickly regained the lead. Muhammad Farris Izdiham Awang Kechik scored with a header in the 54th minute, and DPMM extended their lead four minutes later. However, KL City fought back, narrowing the deficit in the 72nd minute with a header from Muhamad Baqiuddin Shamsudin, assisted by Paulo. The City Boys leveled the score again with a header by Fareed Sadat five minutes later, resulting in a 3-3 draw.

The teams will face off again in the second leg of the quarterfinals at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium on October 11.

Meanwhile, in Georgetown, Penang, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) secured a commanding 7-2 victory over Penang FC in their first-leg quarterfinal clash. Bergson da Silva opened the scoring for JDT in the 16th minute, and Bradley Anthony Tapp added a second goal in first-half stoppage time. Despite Penang FC's effort to close the gap with a goal from Enzo Celestine, JDT continued their dominance, with Marcus Guilherme, Juan Mart­nez, Zaheditabar Shahab, and Tapp further extending the lead. Arif Aiman scored the seventh goal in stoppage time, while Penang FC managed a late consolation goal from Mohamad Khala'if Mohd Naskam.

Penang FC will travel to the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium for the return leg on October 9.

In Kota Bharu, Kelantan City FC and Kuching City played to a goalless draw at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium. The result sets up an even contest for the second leg of the quarterfinals, scheduled for October 10 at the Sarawak Stadium in Kuching, as both teams vie for a place in the semifinals.
