Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Works (KKR) is enhancing its strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Ombudsman to streamline the management of complaints related to infrastructure projects in Sarawak. Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced the initiative following a courtesy visit from a Sarawak Ombudsman delegation to KKR today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting aimed to create understanding and more structured cooperation between the two parties in managing complaints on development projects involving the interests of the people. "This collaboration will facilitate the two-way coordination of complaints, including the channeling of complaints about federal projects to KKR as well as the referral of issues involving the Sarawak Public Works Department to the Sarawak Ombudsman for review and improvement purposes," Linggi stated in a Facebook post.
He further explained that, although it does not act as a judicial body, the Sarawak Ombudsman functions as an independent mediator supporting efforts to improve governance towards a more just, efficient, transparent, and effective administrative system for the benefit of the people.
Linggi expressed his full support for the initiative and hoped that the cooperation could continue to be strengthened, particularly in streamlining the management of complaints related to infrastructure projects and ensuring that every development initiative could be completed according to plan.
The meeting was attended by KKR deputy secretary-general (management) Datuk Zainal Alhakab Seman, Sarawak Ombudsman chief Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafur Shariff, and his delegation.
