San Jose:Kioxia Corporation has expanded its KIOXIA CM9 Series enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) lineup by introducing direct liquid cooling (DLC) models. These new models are designed to integrate with cold-plate-enabled server architectures, while still being compatible with traditional air-cooled systems.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new E3.S DLC models are currently being sampled by select customers and featured at the 2026 OCP Global Summit in San Jose, California, from October 12 to 15. Kioxia emphasizes that direct liquid cooling is becoming increasingly crucial due to the growing demands of artificial intelligence and other high-performance enterprise applications, which require enhanced computing power and cooling solutions.
Kioxia notes that rising power requirements necessitate innovative cooling technologies. DLC infrastructure provides energy savings and allows more servers to be cooled per rack compared to traditional air cooling methods. The KIOXIA CM9-DLC models are designed for SSD context caching and offer read-intensive endurance of one drive write per day (DWPD) and mixed-use endurance of three DWPD.
The DLC models adhere to PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, and NVMe-MI 1.2c specifications, and support the Open Compute Project (OCP) Datacenter NVMe SSD v2.5 standard. They feature dual-port support in the E3.S form factor, with read-intensive models offering up to 30.72 terabytes (TB) of capacity and mixed-use models supporting up to 25.6 TB.
