Kuala lumpur: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the King and Queen of Malaysia, today led the Aidilfitri prayers at the Surau Utama Istana Negara. The royal couple was joined by a notable congregation, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis. According to BERNAMA News Agency, other distinguished attendees included Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul, Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, as well as foreign representatives, were also present at the event. The congregation, led by Istana Negara religious officer Datuk Munir Md Salleh, recited the Aidilfitri takbir before performi ng the prayers. Munir also delivered the Aidilfitri sermon titled 'Syawal: Bangkit Dari Ujian, Bersatu Dalam Keimanan'. The sermon emphasized the importance of not forgetting those affected by increasing conflict and unrest in the West Asian region. Munir called on Muslims to strengthen unity, avoid division, and maintain peace within society. Additionally, the sermon urged the public to practice prudence and avoid excessive spending amid the uncertain global situation caused by conflicts and wars. After the sermon, Their Majesties took time to greet the congregants before departing for the Aidilfitri gathering ceremony.
