King, Queen Express Condolences To Tun Abdullah’s Family

Kuala Lumpur: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, King and Queen of Malaysia, expressed their condolences to the entire family of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on his passing yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Their Majesties conveyed their sympathy to Tun Abdullah’s wife, Tun Jeanne Abdullah, and the entire family, acknowledging the late statesman’s contributions to the nation. Their sentiments were shared on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, where they expressed gratitude for Tun Abdullah’s deeds and prayed for his soul to be blessed and placed among the righteous.

Tun Abdullah, aged 85, passed away at the National Heart Institute at 7.10 pm yesterday. Members of the public who wish to pay their last respects to Malaysia’s 5th Prime Minister can do so today from 10 am to 1 pm during the lying-in-state at the main prayer hall of Masjid Negara (National Mosque).

Following the Zohor prayers, Tun Abdullah will receive a state funeral at the Heroes’ Mausoleum. Born on November 26, 1939, in Bayan Lepas, Penang, he served as the country’s Prime Minister from October 31, 2003, until April 3, 2009, after succeeding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
