King Presents Appointment Letters to Three Judges

Kuala Lumpur: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today granted an audience and presented instruments of appointment to three judges at Istana Negara here. The ceremony took place in the Singgahsana Kecil, also known as the Small Throne Room, marking a significant occasion in the judicial calendar of the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ceremony commenced with His Majesty presenting the letter of appointment to Federal Court Judge Datuk Lee Swee Seng. Additionally, Sultan Ibrahim presented letters to Court of Appeal Judges Datuk Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz and Datuk Dr Lim Hock Leng, elevating their status within the judicial system.

The event was attended by prominent figures in the Malaysian judiciary, including Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and President of the Court of Appeal Tan Sri Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim. Also present were Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Seri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli, and Attorney General Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.

Other notable attendees included Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, Chief Registrar of the Federal Court Datuk Zamri Haji Bakar, and Judicial Appointments Commission secretary Salinah Ismail. The ceremony underscored the importance of these appointments in maintaining the integrity and functionality of Malaysia’s judiciary.

Lee previously served as a Court of Appeal Judge, while both Hayatul Akmal and Lim were elevated from their roles as High Court Judges to the Court of Appeal. Following the formalities, Sultan Ibrahim, accompanied by the newly appointed judges, participated in a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
