King Of Malaysia Graces National Audit Department’s 120th Anniversary Celebration

Kuala lumpur: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today graced the National Audit Department's (JAN) 120th anniversary celebration here. His Majesty arrived at noon and was received by Auditor-General Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, throughout its 120-year history, JAN, established in 1906, has continued to fulfill its mandate as the country's supreme audit institution, ensuring public financial management is conducted transparently, with integrity and accountability, adhering to the principles of good governance. During the event, His Majesty signed JAN's 120th anniversary plaque, symbolizing the department's legacy and its ongoing commitment to strengthening accountability and public financial governance.

In her address, Wan Suraya expressed gratitude to His Majesty and highlighted JAN's role as the nation's check-and-balance mechanism, ensuring responsible management of public funds. With His Majesty's consent, the Auditor General's Report (LKAN) is tabled in Parliament biannually, detailing the financial statements and activities of government bodies and companies.

In line with the 120th anniversary, JAN has launched the JAN Service Digitalisation Project, aiming to enhance auditing capabilities through data analytics, big data, and artificial intelligence, supporting more comprehensive and efficient audits. Wan Suraya emphasized that this initiative would transform public sector auditing into a data-driven, transparent system operating in real time, facilitating high-impact audits to ensure public funds are used effectively.

The celebration theme, 'Menjunjung Amanah: Audit Berkualiti, Meningkatkan Akauntabiliti' (Upholding the Trust: Quality Audits, Enhancing Accountability), underscores JAN's dedication to maintaining credibility and relevance in supporting public sector governance with integrity. Various programs throughout the year have marked JAN's contributions, including the launch of the anniversary celebration, the JAN 120th Anniversary Run, a special Friday prayer khutbah nationwide, and the 2026 Auditor General's Cup Debate Competition.

The event was also attended by prominent figures, including Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul, Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, and Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
