Khairy’s Appeal Application Not Expected To Take Long, Says Zambry

Kuala lumpur: The appeal application for former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin to rejoin the party is not expected to take long, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. Zambry, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general, shared these insights following a recent harmonious meeting between UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Khairy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry stated that Khairy's appeal would be discussed during the upcoming UMNO Supreme Council meeting, and vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has been appointed as the technical chairman to oversee the process. The meeting between Ahmad Zahid and Khairy has provided a positive indication of a swift resolution, with the initiative being part of the president's idea to establish the 'Rumah Bangsa' to reintegrate former members.

Khairy, who also served as the former Health Minister, was dismissed from UMNO on January 23, 2023, for violating party discipline as per the UMNO Constitution after the 15th general election. Despite these challenges, Zambry praised Khairy's unwavering loyalty to UMNO, emphasizing his enduring commitment to the party's ideals.

Zambry further expressed appreciation for Ahmad Zahid's leadership and vision in creating 'Rumah Bangsa,' which aims to foster reconciliation and unity within the party. This initiative reflects the Deputy Prime Minister's openness and willingness to move beyond past conflicts to strengthen both UMNO and national politics.

In response to criticism regarding the 'Rumah Bangsa' concept, Zambry acknowledged that some political parties perceive it as a potential political threat. However, he emphasized that the initiative is intended as a platform for dialogue and collaboration on issues concerning Islam and the Malays, inviting diverse perspectives to promote collective understanding and progress.
