Kuala Lumpur: The National Science Centre (PSN) will deploy its exhibition bus to 30 selected locations across Sabah and Sarawak as part of the ‘Kembara Sains Borneo (KSB)’ programme in conjunction with the 2025 National Science Week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PSN director Mohammad Fuad Rahman mentioned that the exhibition bus, named PSN Trooperz On The Move, is equipped with 20 interactive exhibition spaces designed to ignite students’ interest in science. “This initiative provides an opportunity for students who may not have the chance to visit the National Science Centre in the capital to experience it firsthand through the mobile exhibition brought directly to their location,” he stated during the launch of the 2025 National Science Week programme.
The primary focus of KSB is to bring students from remote and rural areas closer to the National Science Centre. The programme targets schools in urban, rural, and interior regions, engaging students from primary to secondary school levels. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving strategic partners such as the National Planetarium, Akademik Sains Malaysia, Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia, and Petrosains.
In addition to its focus on students, KSB will engage Science and Mathematics teachers through training programmes aimed at enhancing their teaching skills and knowledge.
A statement from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) highlighted that two flagship outreach programmes, Kembara Sains Borneo and Rehlah Sains, will be major highlights of the 2025 National Science Week initiative. These efforts are part of MOSTI’s strategy to ensure that the benefits of integrating science, technology, and innovation (STI) into culture are accessible to all segments of society, including those in rural, suburban, and remote communities.
The 2025 National Science Week programme will be conducted across six main zones nationwide, starting in Sarawak and moving through Terengganu, Sabah, Johor, Kedah, and concluding in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Each location will offer a variety of engaging activities including STEM educational exhibitions, science demonstrations, interactive quizzes, hands-on workshops, and career exhibitions focused on future technology fields.
