Kota kinabalu: The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) in Sabah has adopted a community-oriented approach this year, with activities taking place across every district and participants engaging with local communities on foot.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah Information Department (JAPEN) director Jainisah Mohd Noor highlighted that this new approach allows participants to interact closely with residents while distributing Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flags. Jainisah explained that the event has shifted from the traditional large-scale vehicle convoy to a more personal and community-focused initiative. "This time, the approach is slightly different," she said, noting the emphasis on walking and community engagement.

The programme, held at a Petronas station in the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), also introduced the '1 House, 1 Jalur Gemilang' (1R1JG) initiative, where 200 Jalur Gemilang magnetic stickers and Sabah flags were distributed for vehicles. This initiative is a collaboration with Petronas at selected stations and aims to broaden the distribution of national symbols through various community clusters.

The KMJG convoy, which commenced its tour on August 1, continues to visit districts across Sabah as part of National Month celebrations. The programme not only encourages the display of Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flags but also serves as a platform for promoting messages of nationhood and fostering patriotism and unity within the community.
