Kuala lumpur: The Community Development Department (Kemas) is set to expand its tahfiz programme, Thalatha Tis’a, to 100 nurseries (Taska) across the nation next year. This initiative aims to nurture Quran literacy among young children, beginning as early as three years old.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kemas director-general Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man revealed that the Thalatha Tis’a programme, which was introduced this year, serves as a complement to the Pra Tahfiz programme launched last year. The Pra Tahfiz programme targets children aged five to six, whereas the Thalatha Tis’a programme focuses on those aged three to four.
Currently, the pilot Thalatha Tis’a programme is operational in four nurseries located in Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Putrajaya. Datuk Mohd Hanafiah announced these developments while attending the Terengganu-level Santunan Desa Kemas and Wacana Ilmu Wanita Inspirasiku programmes in Kampung Keluang.
Approximately 1,000 children are expected to participate in the Thalatha Tis’a programme at the 100 nurseries next year. To support the successful implementation of the programme, selected Kemas nursery teachers will undergo training courses and workshops in collaboration with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Yayasan Pahang.
Furthermore, Datuk Mohd Hanafiah noted that the response from parents has been highly positive, with increasing enrolment numbers at Kemas nurseries and kindergartens (Tabika).
