Kota bharu: The Kelantan state government will organise Al-Istisqa' prayers soon to pray for rain due to drought in the state. Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud announced the initiative, emphasizing the need for collective prayer efforts at both state and local levels. In addition to state-level prayers, ulama councils have been encouraged to conduct similar prayers in their respective areas.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud advised the public to prioritize their health by minimizing outdoor activities during the daytime to mitigate the effects of the heat. He urged residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. His comments came during the Kelantan PAS Aidilfitri event, where he also expressed concern about the increased risk of fires due to the hot weather.
Recent reports have indicated several small fires in Kelantan, attributed to the prolonged hot weather and human negligence. The Menteri Besar highlighted that drought conditions can exacerbate the risk of fires, particularly when individuals discard cigarette butts carelessly or engage in open burning. He reiterated the importance of community vigilance and responsible behavior to prevent such incidents.
