Kota bharu: The Kelantan sepak takraw squad is utilizing the 2026 Penang Governor's Cup Sepak Takraw Championship as a preliminary preparation platform ahead of this season's Sepak Takraw League (STL) competition.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan Sepak Takraw assistant manager, Norhisyam Mokhtar, mentioned that the team has been fortified with the inclusion of three national players: Hairul Hazizi, Khairul Zaman, and Norfaizzul Abdul Razak. These additions aim to enhance the team's readiness for the tournament, which commenced yesterday and will continue until this Sunday.

Norhisyam highlighted that, in addition to the national players, five other players have been lined up to ensure the game's compatibility and stability throughout the tournament. He stated that the team's preparation stands at 90 percent, guided by the experienced head coach and former national player, Saufi Salleh.

He emphasized the importance of the tournament in providing the team with an opportunity to test player combinations and game tactics before entering the STL competition. "Every match in this tournament is important to evaluate the players' performance and improve their weaknesses," he noted.
