Kelantan: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Kelantan seized nearly five tonnes of controlled items, including sugar, oil, and wheat from a premises in Jalan Leburaya Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang yesterday. Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail stated that the seizure, which involved a total value of RM53,000, was carried out by a team of personnel from the KPDN Pasir Mas branch during a raid on a business premises at around 4 pm.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the raid was conducted after receiving information that the premises was storing controlled items without proper authorisation. Upon inspection, officials found nearly five tonnes of controlled goods, including sugar and oil, at the premises. A man, who claimed to be the owner, was questioned but failed to provide valid documents regarding the ownership of the controlled items.
Azman further commented that during the operation, a Fuso truck was also seized after several individuals were found unloading controlled goods into the premises. Inspection of the truck revealed more than 1.8 tonnes of sugar, which was supposed to be delivered based on a booking record in Pasir Mas but had been diverted to another location without authorisation. All the controlled goods were seized, and the truck was impounded for investigation under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
