Kelantan: The Kelantan Information Department (JaPen) has initiated the Merpati Komuniti MADANI Cadets in each district throughout the state to address issues of fraud, incitement, and online crimes, including those occurring on social media.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the director of JaPen, Muhd Nor Aswadi Md Nor, emphasized that the cadets are tasked with aiding the government in distributing accurate information to the community, thereby preventing individuals from falling prey to activities that might cause distress. He highlighted the strategic collaboration between the MADANI community and the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), which forms part of the government’s strategy to assist individuals in seeking solutions if they encounter online fraud, online gambling, or cyberbullying.
This announcement was made to reporters following the official launch of the Merpati Komuniti MADANI Cadets alongside the Bachok NADI Series 1/2025 at Beris Kubor Besar NADI. Earlier, on January 21, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil introduced the Online Safety Roadshow, a ministry-driven initiative aimed at enhancing public awareness about online safety and equipping users with the knowledge to avoid online scams.
The roadshow is set to be rolled out in over 10,000 public schools and universities across the nation, with the objective of raising internet safety awareness at all societal levels.
