Kota Bharu: The Kelantan government has disbursed an initial aid of RM1,000 to each head of household affected by a devastating fire in Kampung Kijang. Kota Bharu district officer Rusydee Abdullah announced that the authorities are continuing to assess the needs of the victims, including the provision of temporary housing.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the immediate assistance followed the tragic incident that left eight houses destroyed and 31 people from eight families homeless. Rusydee Abdullah stated, “For today, each affected family received RM1,000, and more assistance will follow. Usually, we allocate RM2,000 per household impacted by disasters.” He also mentioned that discussions with the village chief would be held, as the destroyed homes were built on rented land.
In a show of support, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud visited the site to personally hand over the aid to the affected families. One of the victims, Yah Che Ngoh, a 59-year-old single mother, expressed her gratitude for the government’s support. Currently staying with a friend, she hopes for temporary or permanent shelter for all the victims.
The Kampung Kijang fire incident has drawn attention to the immediate and ongoing needs of fire victims, highlighting the importance of swift government support and community solidarity in times of crisis.
