Kota Bharu: The Kelantan government, through its local authority (PBT), has never approved any business licences for premises selling vape products. State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairman Hilmi Abdullah has emphasized the continuous patrolling and enforcement actions by the PBT to combat vape sales and advertising activities within the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hilmi Abdullah highlighted the role of the Smoking Products Control Act for Public Health 2024 (Act 852), which imposes stricter controls over the sales, advertising, and designated smoking areas for all types of products, including vape. This statement was made in response to a query from Nik Bahrum Nik Abdullah (PAS-Chempaka) regarding measures to address the ongoing issue of Nanostick and Vape shops operating in PBT-controlled areas, during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at the Kota Darulnaim Complex.
Hilmi further commented that last year, a total of 40 operations targeting vape activities were conducted, leading to the seizure of 67 premises. He noted that as of March this year, 10 operations have resulted in the seizure of 16 premises. He urged all parties in Kelantan to refrain from engaging in any activities related to vape.
