Kelantan: The Kelantan State Assembly Elite League has been ordered to suspend matches immediately in the face of adverse weather conditions, particularly during incidents of heavy rain and thunderstorms. State Youth, Sports, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Unity Committee chairman Zamakshari Muhamad stressed the importance of safety for players and all involved, stating the necessity of halting games to avert any potential risks during severe weather events.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zamakshari made these remarks to reporters after a state executive council meeting at the Kota Darulnaim Complex. The directive comes in the wake of a tragic incident reported by the media, where a Thai football club player lost his life and a Malaysian player sustained injuries after being struck by lightning during a Golok FA Cup match at Santiphap Stadium in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, Thailand.

In a separate announcement, Zamakshari highlighted a new regulation requiring prior approval from the state government for the use of the name "Kelantan" in any programme organized by NGOs or private entities. This decision follows controversy surrounding the Kelantan International Marathon, which went viral on social media after allegations emerged that the organizers collected participation fees before cancelling the event, despite having no official affiliation with the state government.
