Kelantan Customs Records 29 Drug Seizures Worth Over RM22 Mln

Kelantan: The Kelantan Customs Department’s aggressive efforts to curb smuggling activities continue to pay off, with 29 drug seizure cases worth RM22.87 million recorded from January to October this year. Its director, Wan Jamal Abdul Salam Wan Long, highlighted this achievement as one of the department’s biggest successes in recent years, noting the operations targeted drug smuggling and undeclared vehicles in Balakong, Selangor, and Kuala Lumpur.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during operations from October 14 to 16, enforcement teams seized three vehicles-a Porsche Panamera, Nissan Teana, and Toyota Estima-as well as a high-powered Honda CB400 motorcycle, with a total value, including taxes, of RM395,910. Additionally, 18.322 kg of drugs valued at RM1.5 million were found inside the Toyota Estima parked behind a condominium in Balakong.

Wan Jamal stated that the total value of the seized vehicles and drugs reached RM1.72 million. This success was achieved after public tips led the team to surveil the vehicle believed to be used for storing drugs. He noted that the case involving the vehicles is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967, while the drug case is being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
