Bachok: The Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, has urged all parties to remain committed to positioning Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) as a leading entrepreneurship-based university through strategic planning and effective implementation. He expressed his views during the Proclamation Ceremony for the Pro-Chancellor and UMK’s 14th Convocation Ceremony at the university’s Bachok Campus today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry has been closely following UMK’s progress and achievements throughout 2024, both nationally and internationally, and commended the dedication and hard work of its entire workforce. He highlighted the significant transformation in the way of life due to globalisation, affecting how people work, communicate, and access information. These changes present challenges for institutions like UMK to remain relevant and competitive while producing graduates who can meet current demands.
Tengku Muhammad Fakhry emphasised the importance of continuously evaluating UMK’s ecosystem to ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning. He noted the necessity of reviewing curriculum relevance, teaching approaches, academic offerings, and research and development activities to stay aligned with the nation’s growth. He stressed that the learning experience at UMK should be future-ready, reflecting 21st-century educational needs by incorporating digital lifestyles, technological proficiency, digital tools and services, and knowledge-based work practices.
In his address, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry also congratulated UMK staff and graduates for achieving a 96.7 per cent graduate employability rate last year, underscoring the university’s success in preparing students for the workforce.
