Kedah Policeman Arrested for Alleged Involvement in RM15,000 Bribery Case

Baku:Kedah The Kedah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has apprehended a police officer suspected of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to approximately RM15,000 from a drug trafficker two years ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect is believed to have taken these bribes as an inducement to shield drug trafficking operations and to avert law enforcement actions within the state. The officer, in his 30s, was detained around 2 pm today upon his arrival to provide a statement at the Kedah MACC office.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspect's alleged misconduct occurred throughout 2024. It is claimed that he received monthly bribe payments ranging from RM200 to RM2,500, which were reportedly transferred online into his personal bank account.

Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the policeman's arrest and stated that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
