Kedah: The Kedah government has announced that February 1 will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of Thaipusam. This decision was reached during a Kedah State Executive Council meeting led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the announcement was formalized through an official state government letter signed by Deputy State Secretary (Management) Datuk Dr Nadzman Mustaffa. The holiday declaration is in line with Section 9(1) of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369).

The letter, which was distributed to leaders of state and federal departments, as well as heads of statutory bodies and local authority departments within the state, was also posted on Muhammad Sanusi's Facebook page.
