KBS Encourages Women Participation In Sports – Youth, Sports Minister

Alor setar: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) encourages the participation of more women in sports and aims to boost the number of women athletes in the country. Its minister, Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, emphasized the importance of women's involvement in sports after visiting the Milo All Girls Touch Rugby (AGTR) Series 2026 at the Malaysian Teaching Institute Sultan Abdul Halim Campus.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohammed Taufiq highlighted that women participation in various sports is encouraging and that they have shown a high level of fighting spirit in their disciplines. He noted that many women have become national icons, which is why there is a push to encourage more women to participate in sports, especially at the grassroots level.

The minister stated that sports are meant to unite people and should not be differentiated by gender or background. He expressed the ministry's commitment to empowering women in sports, noting that sports help inculcate discipline and team spirit. Dr Mohammed Taufiq added that Malaysia is on the right track, with many women athletes capable of representing the country.

He further mentioned the need for collaboration with schools, universities, and the National Sports Council to ensure that women's talents can be elevated to higher levels.
