KBS Approves Hosting Of Asia Pacific Deaf Games In Penang

Penang: The Malaysian government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), has approved the application to host the Asia Pacific Deaf Games 2026 in Penang from Oct 3 to 10, said Malaysia Deaf Sport Association (MSDeaf) president Ong Shin Ruenn. He mentioned that the approval, granted under the powers provided in Section 33 of the Sports Development Act 1997, was a sign of support for efforts to strengthen inclusive sports development and expand the participation of deaf athletes at the international level.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the hosting of the event is expected to serve as an important platform in empowering the development of deaf community sports in the Asia-Pacific region. Ong expressed gratitude towards KBS and the Office of the Sports Commissioner for their support of the association's efforts, emphasizing that the event will enhance Malaysia's image as a key destination for international sporting events.

MSDeaf is committed to ensuring that all preparations for the Asia Pacific Deaf Games 2026 proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner. Ong stated confidence that the games will not only strengthen the development of deaf community sports but also positively impact the overall development of national sports.
