KBS Allocates RM500,000 for Aquatic Centre Scoreboard Upgrade in Paroi

Paroi: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has allocated RM500,000 for the upgrade of the scoreboard at the Negeri Sembilan Aquatic Centre in Paroi. Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh announced this development, stating that the project commenced on January 20 and reached completion on July 29. This initiative is part of the MADANI government’s efforts to provide athletes with precise information regarding their performance during competitions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hannah Yeoh emphasized that the new scoreboard serves as motivation for swimmers to enhance their training, benefiting both local athletes and those in nearby regions. This upgrade underscores KBS’s ongoing commitment to bolstering the national sports ecosystem. Yeoh shared these insights during a press conference at the scoreboard upgrade handover ceremony and the national-level OKU (Persons with Disabilities) Sports League 2025 participants engagement program at the Negeri Sembilan Youth and Sports Complex.

In addition, Hannah Yeoh highlighted the OKU Sports League as a recent ministry initiative facilitated by the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN). The league aims to encourage sports participation within the disabled community at both state and national levels. Its primary objective is to empower the OKU community through active involvement in sports, fostering an inclusive and healthy lifestyle, and supporting the National Sports Vision 2030.

Yeoh explained that the OKU Sports League aligns with the MADANI Malaysia Framework, emphasizing Wellbeing and Compassion, along with promoting the ‘No One Left Behind’ ethos that prioritizes equality and inclusivity in sports. The league also acts as a platform to identify and nurture new talents for higher-level competitions, such as Para SUKMA, the ASEAN Para Games, and the Paralympics.

The minister noted the enthusiastic response from the OKU community, with 1,097 national-level participants and 15 state-level series involving 5,448 participants, totaling 6,545 participants this year. She added that the OKU Sports League has no maximum age limit, starting from 15 years old, and permits teams to include athletes with various disabilities, such as physical, intellectual, visual, and hearing impairments.
