Kuala lumpur: The Sarawak-level National Day celebration will be held in Kapit on August 30 and 31, featuring a series of events aimed at fostering patriotism, strengthening unity, and nurturing love for the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, who is also the minister responsible for the celebration, said the event was expected to be graced by Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
"The celebration will not only serve as a platform to commemorate National Day, but also as a means of strengthening the spirit of togetherness, honouring the contributions of past leaders, and reinforcing unity among the people," he stated in a release today.
He further outlined that three main events have been organized for the celebration. These include the National Day Eve celebration at Kapit Town Square on the night of August 30, followed by the Unity Walk at 7 am on August 31, and the National Day Gathering at the grounds of Dewan Suarah Kapit at 11 am on the same day.
Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is scheduled to attend the Unity Walk and National Day Gathering, while Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to attend the National Day Gathering.
Rundi also extended an invitation to the public, particularly residents of the Kapit Division and surrounding areas, to participate in the celebrations. For those unable to attend in person, the events will be broadcast live on TVS and the official social media platforms of the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
