Melaka: Kampung Chinchin in Jasin will be registered as a new homestay cluster in Melaka, bringing the total number of registered homestay clusters in the state to 10 this year. Chairman of the Melaka Homestay and Kampungstay Owners Association Datuk Akramuddin Abd Aziz stated that the new homestay cluster would provide more choices for tourists, especially from abroad, in conjunction with Melaka’s selection as the host of the World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, there are currently nine registered homestays in Melaka offering more than 300 rooms with various themes or different village atmosphere experiences for tourists. To register as a homestay cluster, there must be at least 15 houses in each area, with inspections and assessments conducted on several aspects of the homestays.
In Kampung Chinchin, visitors can explore attractions such as leisure destinations, tourism spots, heritage, and history. These features aim to enhance the overnight experience for tourists at the homestay. Akramuddin shared these details with reporters after the Riang Ria Hari Raya Programme, which involved purchasing Raya clothes for 47 orphans, asnaf, and senior citizens from Telok Mas state constituency.
He further elaborated that registered homestay clusters include Ayer Limau, Ayer Paabas, Alai, Seri Tanjung, Kampung Morten, and Paya Dalam. Additionally, various packages will be crafted, focusing on traditional games of the local community to attract foreign tourists to the homestay cluster in conjunction with WTD and WTC 2025.
Earlier, Akramuddin mentioned that the Raya clothing purchase programme, now in its 15th year, continues to aid in easing the financial burden of recipients by allowing them to buy new clothes. The programme is sustained through contributions from various parties annually, ensuring that needy groups are supported and can enjoy Hari Raya. Each recipient receives RM200 to select new clothes or purchase other essential items.
