Kangar: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has implemented 12 programmes, aimed at enhancing facilities and strengthening human capital development in Kampung Sena here, under the RM1 million Kampung Angkat MADANI 2025 allocation via the Prime Minister's Department. UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli said the programmes comprised four physical initiatives, with the rest being non-physical, implemented between April 15 and Dec 31 last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the physical programmes covered drainage system repair works, the upgrading of the Rural Community Centre, the installation of over 100 solar lights, along with signboards and landmarks. The non-physical programmes include Health and Dental Check-ups, the Baca Kids, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programme, the 'Matematik Untuk Juara' Programme, and the Basic Electrical Wiring Programme.
Other initiatives are the Motorcycle Servicing Programme, Construction Safety and Health Induction Course, and Desa Sena Biz Bootcamp Programme, as mentioned by Zaliman during the handover ceremony of the Kampung Angkat MADANI 2025 programme in Kampung Sena today.
Elaborating on the physical initiatives, Zaliman noted that the drainage system repair work involved the installation of over 300 metres of U-shaped concrete drains to mitigate the risk of flooding in the area. He emphasized that the implementation of the programmes aligns with the UniMAP for Society initiative and the vision of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, through Kampung Angkat MADANI, reflecting the university's commitment to contributing directly to the well-being of the local community.
Zaliman expressed appreciation to the residents of Kampung Sena for their cooperation and commitment. He affirmed that UniMAP will continue to collaborate with agencies in Perlis to ensure that the benefits of the university's presence reach all residents of the state.
