JPJ Raises Over RM24 Mln from Special ‘A__A’ Registration Bids

Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Transport, through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), has collected more than RM24 million in revenue from bids for the special registration number (NPI) series ‘A__A’, in conjunction with JPJ’s 79th anniversary celebration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the highest successful bid was RM902,020 for the number A9A. This was followed by A11A and A8A, which fetched RM703,007 and RM700,000, respectively. Additionally, A7A was the fourth highest at RM502,000, with A2A closely behind at RM490,888.

Loke further detailed that the five most sought-after numbers included A51A, which attracted 40 bidders, A101A with 31 bidders, A8118A with 29, and both A1881A and A19A with 27 bidders each. These details were shared during a press conference following the launch of a training program for car carrier lorry drivers on handling electric vehicles (EVs).

He emphasized that the revenue generated from the special number plate bids, including the ‘A__A’ series, would be reinvested into the community through various Ministry of Transport initiatives. These initiatives include the MyLESEN programme, helmet exchange campaigns, and the FlySISWA travel initiative.

Minister Loke also expressed his gratitude to all participants who engaged in the online bidding exercise for the A__A series via the JPJeBid system, which commenced on April 19 and concluded yesterday.
