JPJ Issues Over 7,000 Notices To Motorcyclists During 2026 CNY Special Operation

Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a total of 7,414 P (22) notices to motorcyclists during the Special Operation in conjunction with the 2026 Chinese New Year (Ops TBC 2026), which began on February 9. JPJ Deputy Director-General (Management and Operations), Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi, reported that during this period, 41,332 motorcycles were inspected nationwide, resulting in the seizure of 103 motorcycles for various offences.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, 4,242 buses were inspected at depots and terminals across the country, leading to the issuance of 779 inspection slips. Two buses were seized for failing to comply with established safety and legal requirements. This information was shared by Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi during a press briefing at the JPJ special operation for Chinese New Year at Lembah Sireh.

The department also conducted undercover operations with officers posing as bus passengers to ensure comprehensive monitoring of legal compliance and safety aspects during the festive travel surge. Datuk Jazmanie noted that 381 bus drivers underwent urine screening tests, with three testing positive for drugs, leading to further action against them.

In terms of goods vehicles, 106 enforcement actions were taken nationwide. Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest number of cases with 35, followed by Selangor with 16, Penang with 15, Perak with 12, and Terengganu with 9 cases.
