Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is partnering with local animation company Monsta Studios to produce an animated series aimed at delivering road safety messages in a more creative and effective way. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook stated that the initiative is primarily focused on children, intending to instill road safety awareness from an early age.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister emphasized that educating children about road safety could also influence their parents' behavior behind the wheel. Loke remarked, "When children themselves advise or remind their parents about road offences, we hope this can encourage parents to be more careful when driving with their children."

Loke noted that younger generations are increasingly engaged with digital content, animation, social media, and creative storytelling, making it crucial to communicate road safety messages through formats that are accessible, engaging, and memorable. The collaboration combines JPJ's expertise in road safety and regulations with Monsta Studios' strengths in animation, creative content, and digital communication. "The partnership aims to ensure road safety messages are understood, embraced and ultimately put into practice by the public," he explained.

In addition to this initiative, Loke highlighted that the ministry, through JPJ, is integrating an online driver health screening system to enhance the transparency of medical reports. Under the new system, medical examination results will be directly entered into a platform integrated with MySikap before a driver's license is renewed. JPJ is collaborating with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) and the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) to identify panel clinics that would utilize the online system.

In another development, Loke mentioned that improvements to airport screening standard operating procedures (SOP) would be presented to the Cabinet next week. He noted that the scope and procedures governing the use of screening machines would also be reviewed to enhance the equipment and screening process. "The Home Ministry is drawing up improvements to screening procedures and related matters, which will be presented to the Cabinet next week," he stated. "We will also review the scope and SOPs for our screening machines to ensure the necessary improvements are made," he added.
