Kuala Lumpur: One Nation Emcees member Nur Hasan Balas, better known as Jojo, passed away at the age of 50 at Masjid Sri Petaling here earlier this morning. Former band member Mimi Fly said Jojo collapsed during a programme at the mosque.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jojo was in the midst of a 40-day dakwah (Islamic propagation) effort and passed away on the final day. Mimi, whose real name is Amalina Norhisham, 37, mentioned that Jojo had previously suffered a heart attack in November, but the exact cause of his death remains uncertain. She noted that their last communication was through a phone call three days ago, during which Jojo shared his plans to start a Hari Raya clothing business and sought her assistance.
Mimi expressed her admiration for Jojo, describing him as a kind-hearted person who was loved by many. She added that Jojo’s final rites were held at the same mosque, and he was laid to rest at the Bukit Jalil Muslim Cemetery. Jojo’s wife, Siti Rohayu Saharudin, revealed that he had expressed his wish to be buried wherever he passed away to avoid burdening others, despite residing in Taiping.
Originally from Sandakan, Sabah, Jojo leaves behind his wife and a daughter. He became actively involved in dakwah in 2020 and had previously suffered a stroke.
